Played in very decent late December conditions sixty Members ventured out on to the Church Course today for the annual Boxing Day twelve hole foursomes competition. Only a light breeze disturbed the Members efforts to shake off the effects of the previous day's festivities. In this respect Jane and Peter Bendall clearly benefited from an early night as their excellent score of 25 points was good enough to ensure that they had first choice of the many wrapped gifts on offer. However their marker, possibly having exhausted his supply of Christmas good will, deemed that they should have been disqualified. The grounds for this claim being that they had failed to add the year on the date on the card and completely failed to enter the start time. This claim was dismissed on appeal by the Vice-Captain on the grounds that the marker was Welsh and thus their score was valid.
