The 40 members who played in this weekend’s Battle Trophy were not rewarded with good weather. The rain in the morning eventually blew through but the wind howling straight at you off the first did not let up and became stronger through the day. The greens also this weekend were a little slower than usual following their fertilization.
It was the final round of the series with Sam Jarvis leading by a margin, however with just 3 rounds to count, there was room for some tussling for places. Josh Greenaway won the day’s competition with Nett 74, off his scratch handicap he also had the lowest gross of the day. In second place John Paul scored nett 75 and earns himself a handicap decrease. Andy Beare and Sam Jarvis both came in with nett 76 followed by Dave Pooley on Nett 77.
Sam Jarvis did enough in 4th place to hold on to his series lead and wins the Battle Trophy for 2015 with a combined score of 58 points.
John Paul was a late contender for a place on the series table with Saturday being just his 3rd outing in the series. He leapt up the table to take 2nd place with a combined 55 points. Gavin Jarvis was pushed down to 3rd place with 52 points and Rob Cook and Nigel Goodman finished in 4th and 5th respectively on 50 points. Russel Combellack and Ken Perring both had 48 points in 6th and 7th with Josh Greenaway coming in 8th on the table with 47 points. 9th and 10th prize were taken by Dave Pooley and Stuart Fleet on 46 points each.
