Forget about the European victory at the Ryder Cup. Forget Cornwall’s victory over Surrey in the English County Championship, what we all want to know is who won round 5 of the Battle Trophy!
51 members left their TV sets for a few hours on Saturday to compete in the 5th medal round of the Battle Trophy. The weather conditions were once again perfect for golf, continuing our September good fortune and the scores returned on the most part reflected this. The competition standard scratch was 71.
Ryan Perring took victory at St Enodoc with a nett score of 65, off a 16 handicap Ryan had a good number of pars and a birdie on the 7th. In second place, on countback, was Chris Tickner with a nett score of 67, just nudging Dennis Brown into 3rd also with nett 67. 4th and 5th place was also decided on countback with Stuart Morley coming in 4th with nett 69 and Colin Garnett following him in 5th place. Colin also got a hole in one on 11. Congratulations Colin!
The lowest gross score of the day was shot by Shaun Beare. Shaun had a gross 74 off his 5 handicap leaving him in 6th position on countback with nett 69.
The Series has just one round to go now, Ken Perring is well in the lead with Kevin Richards in 2nd. Dave Pooley, Keith Hawke and Rob Moore could still be within reach of the top spot depending on the final results on 25th October.
