Round 2 of the Battle Trophy was played in a strong north westerly wind on Saturday 16th May 2015. Looking at the scores for the day it seems the conditions were not enjoyed by the 65 players who entered! The Competition Standard Scratch was 74, resulting in reductions only –a great relief to many.
John Paul had the lowest nett score of the day at 73 followed by Russell Combellack who netted 74. Rob Cook, Kevin Richards and Paul Dingle came in with nett 75 and Ken Perring and Kenton Williams had nett scores of 76.
The competition also incorporated the Ken Tune Cup, played in celebration of Ken Tune\'s outstanding round at the age of 76 in which his gross score was 76. The winner of the Ken Tune Cup is the player whose gross score, less his age results in the lowest ‘KT differential’!
No one has yet equalled Ken Tune\'s feat or even come very close, and of course it is an advantage to be a more mature player! This year the winner was Derek Kingsbury who’s Gross Score was just 14 more than his age.
