The final round of the Battle Trophy was played on Saturday. The Battle Trophy is a 6 round series which started back on 5th March. It is a Medal competition so does not always leave our members with a warm feeling on a Saturday evening! 54 players entered this weekend and played in good conditions, sunny in the afternoon with a cold wind coming from the North East.
The winner of the final round was Lewis Bradley with a nett score of 65, Lewis has played every round of the Battle Trophy and has scored well in all but one round, on Saturday, Lewis holed 12 pars. In second place Thomas Hughes had a nett 66 including 2 birdies on the 4th and the 17th.
Joe Cruse finished in 3rd place on Saturday his +3 handicap giving him a nett 67. Joe’s round however, matches the Course Record! His Gross Score was 64, unsurprisingly the lowest of the day! He hit 6 birdies and narrowly missed an eagle on the 16th.
The rest of the days prizes went to Matthew Robins in 4th place, Tuck Clagett in 5th place, Shaun Beare in 6th, Richard Hawken in 7th and Dave Bastard in 8th place.
The winner of the Battle Trophy for 2016 is Josh Greenaway with a combined score of 69 points.
