St. Enodoc Golf Club - Battle Trophy Final Round

Battle Trophy Final Round

Saturday 26th October saw the Seventh and final round of the Battle Trophy get underway in good conditions with a light breeze blowing although this was not to last as wind speeds increased during the morning to produce very difficult conditions for those starting later in the day, a fact that was reflected in the scoring with nobody bettering their handicap and a competition standard scratch score of 74.

Things were tight at the top with only 1 shot separating the top 6 places meaning that 1st Place had to be decided on a count-back between Robbie Moore and Keith Hawke who both finished with nett 72s, Robbie’s better back nine secured First Place with Keith finishing in Second followed by Rich Hawken in Third Place also after a count-back against Ryan Perring, Julian Darnell and Pete George all of whom finished with nett 73s.

Things proved to be just as tight in the final placings of this year’s Battle Series with both Rich Hawken and Ryan Perring finishing on the same score of 72 points meaning the 5th best series score was used to decide the winner with Rich’s score off 11 points just beating Ryan’s 10 points leaving Rich as the Battle Trophy winner 2013 followed by Ryan in the runners up spot. Rounding out the top three and making it a family affair was Ryan’s dad Ken Perring who finished with 67 series points just beating Dan Witts who also finished on 67 points with the 5th best score rule.
