On 20th June, the Baron Rose Bowl Competition was held at St Austell Golf Club. This is a 36 hole Medal Foursomes competition open to all the Golf Clubs in Cornwall. Three pairs compete for the best combined net scores of the day. Representing St Enodoc were Meg Godfrey and Rhiannon Rich, Terri Gliddon and
Celia Jarvis and Sarah Sandecock and Susie Willmott. After 18 holes, their net scores were 77, 75 and 77 respectively a total of 229.
Then the rain started and gradually the greens flooded so that eventually although most of the teams completed 36 holes, it was declared an 18 hole competition and the winners of the Baron Rose Bowl were Fiona Pocklington and Pat Greenwood of Newquay with a net 69; they also brought in their club team scores to win the club competition with 221.5. Well done to our ladies who battled through the rain and although did not win, left St Austell with their heads held high.
