Playing in round two of the Mens \"Daily Mail\" competition at Lanhydrock yesterday Richard Lawrence and Richard Hawken ultimately prevailed in a tight match.
Three down after eleven holes during which their opponents had a purple patch of one under par for seven holes our Foursomes maestros found themselves three down with five to play. No doubt the Lanhydroc boys were feeling pleased with themselves at this point. A purple patch of their own and some shots from their opponents which showed signs of the pressure found our boys all square on the par 3 17th hole. They then won both the 17th and 18th to come off as deserved, but probably relieved, winners - 2up. The experience of playing Frank Wills pressure matches doubtless helped.
And so the Club marches on and is still involved in all Mens and Ladies \"Mail\" competitions.
