One could be forgiven in thinking the Shambles Competition was an April Fool's joke but in actual fact the event was thoroughly enjoyed by 72 men on Saturday the 1st. The format allowed the men to choose the best of the drives from a 2-man team and then play their own ball from there, then adding their stableford scores together for the team score. Still with us? A good day weather-wise helped matters for a change and the winning pair was John Arnold and Wayne Mitchell, winning on countback with 79 points. The ever-steady Arnold was assisted very capably by his partner, who hit a purple patch on the back nine on holes 12-15. In second place, also with 79 were Chris Jennings and Matt Robins, both names to watch for the future, whilst 3rd place was taken by the old war horses, Andy Bunt and Mike Buse with 75 points. Three teams picked up of the spoils with 73 points - Nigel Olesen & Geoff Jones, Mike Lovett & Derek Daniels, Tom Hughes & Joe Cruse.
