After nearly a month out of action through injury our resident tour professional, Antony Nash, made his return to tournament golf on the last day of July. Antony and Katie both travelled to Cotswold Hills for the South West PGA Assistants\' Championship. The Championship was competed for over 36 holes but the course was set up for scoring with the rough being cut but the trees and tucked pins were its protection. After such a long break Antony\'s game was rusty as to be expected, the morning round was a struggle with lots of errant shots, but the hours of short game practice paid of and kept him in the tournament with some classy up and downs. He carded a 1 over par 73, which placed him 5 shots behind the leader.
During the lunch break, and after a quick chat on the phone with Nick, Antony found his swing. Despite the deteriorating weather Antony came out strong creating plenty of chances in the opening 9 but didn\'t capitalize, a strong spell after the turn got him -2 for the round which he maintained to the finish carding and afternoon score of two under par 70, the best of the afternoon by 2 shots. This score saw him climb through the field and finish in third place overall. A very good performance after such a long spell out.
Antony now heads to Tehidy Park on the 2nd August before heading to Coventry for the National Assistants\' Championships next week.
