‘Proper’ mizzle and a muggy atmosphere greeted the teams on the morning of Monday, 05 September for the return match against Bude with the possibility of retaining the 'Peter Commings Putter' Trophy.
With the away loss of 7 - 1 put firmly back in the recesses of memory, the Old Saints set out to battle their way back to victory. Despite promising wins in the early matches, the grip on The Putter loosened and finally slipped away, so despite a convincing home victory of 6 - 2 it was Bude who took home the trophy with an aggregate win of 9 - 7.
In his after-dinner speech Bude Captain of the Day, Paul Cobb described St. Enodoc as ‘The best of the best’; praise indeed for a course we all know as 'home' and sometimes forget the impact it can have on our visitors. And this was despite much of the course and its views not being visible because of the weather !
Thanks go to all the team and especially to Derek Daniels Mike Maberly who both stepped in at the eleventh hour to ensure a full team took to the links
