On Monday 19 August the Seniors visited Launceston for the return match having won at home earlier in the season. On this occasion, the weather was wonderful, the hospitality was wonderful, the food was wonderful, the delightful parkland course was wonderful, Dick Leivers (NTP) thought it was wonderful and the 4½ - 3½ win was wonderful too. Readers may gather therefore, that all in all, in was a wonderful day !
As the result meant the season’s first double, the Launceston skipper presented to captain of the day, John Bower, the inter-club shield for which the two clubs have competed each season since 1987. There is a nasty little rumour abroad, that the shield was mislaid for some years after Launceston had won it for a few successive seasons only to be discovered eventually, at rest in the locker of a St Enodoc senior long departed ! Not true of course !
