On Friday, 26 April, our visitors, the Teepegs from Tehidy Park, were delighted to register their first ever win at St Enodoc, 5½ - 2½.
Although the wind was troublesome, only Nigel Thomas and Ken Metcalfe recorded a win. Three other pairs managed halves, in some cases contriving to surrender a comfortable lead in the later holes, whilst others even snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory. Perhaps the sound of the wind in some hearing aids was mistaken for the fat lady singing !
Very unusually, no player from either side managed to stay on the green on the ‘wine’ holes, which could be an indication of the conditions or that aging skills were left in the car park.
A couple of amusing and witty speeches from the two captains nearly eased the disappointment !
