This annual fun competition was due to take place on Saturday 10th December but with an accurate forecast of heavy and persistent rain throughout the day, Ladies’ Captain Tamsin Blake wisely opted to use her emergency quiz and keep her sixty four ladies warm and dry. This proved to be a popular decision and all the ladies arrived at the club house in good spirits wearing a wonderful array of Christmas outfits, Maxine Rich, Rose Jones and Fiona Lunt would later be rewarded for their efforts. On arrival, the ladies were served drinks and snacks by Richard Blake and Tony Mindel who were also dressed in their festive finery.
Clubhouse Manager, Chris Smythe did an excellent job as quiz master and expertly kept the teams in check as they competed over five brain teasing rounds. It transpired that some ladies had prepared rather more than others for this contest and Jo Carthew rightly received the “Clarissa Chicken Award” for taking the time to memorise the names of Santa’s Reindeers before she left home!
Following the quiz, everyone enjoyed an excellent traditional Christmas turkey meal in the restaurant which had been beautifully decorated by Jean Nicholls. The Ladies’ Captain provided some additional table party props to go along with the streamers and balloons which added to the party atmosphere.
At the prize giving, Tamsin thanked everyone for supporting the event with a special mention for Tony and Di Mindel plus husband Richard who all worked tirelessly when it became necessary to change the format of the day. Dave Buse caused quite a stir when he won the Ladies’ car park draw and the following teams were awarded prizes :
