St. Enodoc Golf Club - A Chicken Chase to remember.

A Chicken Chase to remember.

The annual Chicken Chase was held on Saturday 13th December and was played on the Holywell Course. This is always a fun, team competition and the format this year was a better ball competition where the best two scores from a team of four, count on each hole.

Ladies’ Captain Trudie Tensjo provided a warm welcome to the festivities and it was a colourful sight as all 68 competitors made their way to the starting positions. Players enjoyed the beautifully bright and sunny conditions and appreciated the delicious mince pies made by Trudie’s mum, Doreen. These were served at the 8th tee by Anders Tensjo and Malcolm Cole along with generous helpings of Swedish Glogg! On returning to the clubhouse everyone sat down to a lovely roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

After the prize giving, we were treated to a spectacular performance of the “Coming of the Light” ceremony from Scandanavia. This is a traditional Swedish ceremony performed on the 13th December to celebrate the patron saint of light. The "Queen of Light" wearing a crown of leaves and lighted candles, served treats to each table whilst the choir sang a beautiful rendition of "Santa Lucia”
Afterwards, the festivities continued with carol singing accompanied by St Minver Silver Band which rounded off a most enjoyable day.
