The weather was kind this weekend to the 79 members who entered the 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford competition. There was a westerly wind but nothing like the strength of earlier in the week and whilst it was damp and cold the rain held off throughout the day.
Unlike the Australian Open with the old guard shinning in the final, the winners here on Saturday came from the more youthful end of the club! Joe Combellack and Tom Hughes scored 43 points to take first place and win a £21 voucher each. In second place, our old guard, Norman Evans and Malcolm Mullis scored 42 points and in 3rd place Russell Combellack and Tuck Clagett finished with 41 points.
Dave Pooley and Mark Pimble came in 4th with 39 points beating Neil Carhart and Andy Burt on countback, followed by Malcolm Knight and Nick Shelley, Rob Cook and Mike Buse, Greg Mather and Dennis Brown and Lewis Bradley and Stuart Fleet all finishing with 38 points.
The Captain, David Elliot, and Ian Day picked up the last prize of the day with 37 points on countback. The same score had earned The Captain 2nd place in last year’s 4 Ball Better Ball competition.
