The 125th Anniversary Golf Week started today with the customary Bucks competition on the Holywell and which was won by Richard Hawken. A full report and photo is promised and which will be posted upon receipt.
The Mixed Flag competition which followed on both courses started in miserable wind blown mizzle for the early starters but cleared for those who followed. A flag competition is essentially mixed medal foursomes but with an early escape clause for those who burn off too many shots too soon. The long wet rough did not help those who strayed from the short grass and a tales of high scores were legion. The prize giving by the Club Captain was on this occasion in keeping with week, the Captain wearing golf clothes reminiscent of another era. Those who mangaged the format better than most and who are now proud owners of the especially commissioned 125th Anniversary crystal were -
