The Bank Holiday Weekend was kick started with a 1-2-3 Men’s Competition on the Church Course. The sun was out and the wind a mere 15km/h North Easterly. The Greens were firm and fast and unlike the snooker players with their dodgy cushions, our golfers could not ask for better conditions. The scores show that most were playing well with the winning score 12 points better than last year.
Played in teams of 3 there was 1 score to count on the first, 2 scores on the 2nd and 3 scores on the 3rd, back to 1 score on the 4th and so on…
The winning team was made up of Kevin Brenton, Nigel Buse and Josh Greenaway, they scored a total of 78 points to win by 6 clear points. In second Nick Clarke, Simon Marquis and Anders Tensjo had 72 points to beat Mark Jarvis, Andy Griffiths and Andy Beare into 3rd on countback.
In 4th place Pete George, Nigel Goodman and John Arnold teamed up to score 71 points. Bob Cruse, Nick Shelley and Richard Helleur finished with 70 points in 5th place ahead of 6th place team Shaun Beare, Nigel Ahearn and Andy Golding also with 70 points.
