Where is this ? When was the photograph taken ?

During the research into the Club's records and memorabilia for the 125th Anniversary a number of high quality glass plate negatives were discovered. Stuart Morley has now digitised these negatives; this treasure trove of important pictures show the course as it was many years ago and form the basis of the photographic 125th Anniversary archive and which can be found here.

Stuart has now found another interesting shot and which is shown above. The webmaster and his slaves are of the opinion that it shows the current 18th fairway with the green to the far right. However some questions remain and for which we seek your assistance

  • When was the picture taken ?
  • From where was the picture taken ?
  • Is the stone marker in the distance between the trees that on the 1st fairway or the 18th fairway ?
  • Is the rectangular stump in the right foreground a tee marker ?
  • How many greenkeepers can you see ?
