Against all the odds the weather co-operated and we had a wonderful day for the Viscountess Clifden Mixed Foursomes along with the new Bannerman Trophy on the Holywell on Sunday 23rd August. The weather leading up to the day had been awful and even overnight a big storm had gone through but as each hour passed prior to the start of play the weather looked better and better and by the end the sun was shining along with a gentle breeze.

The two trophies being played for, the cigarette box and scent bottle for the Viscountess Clifden and the new Bannerman Trophy on the Holywell hark back to the formative years of the Club, the former one of our earliest competitions and the latter a brand new trophy for the Club. The Great Granddaughter of Captain Bannerman - Captain of the Club between 1895 and 1897 is Sue Harbour who found the trophy recently and kindly wanted the Club to have the benefit of it.

There was an excellent turnout on both courses with 26 pairs on the Church and a further 10 on the Holywell and matters were greatly aided by Course Marshall Dave Ray who kept the Fourballs in front of the competitors moving along well as a result speed of play was excellent. Mixed Foursomes is without any doubt the hardest form of play in which to score well and the results were really very good and close, those in the prizes listed below must all be congratulated:-
