Tudor Edwards Final - Cruse & Blake are Champions

Published: 19th January 2016

The final match of the Men's Winter Foursomes Knockout competition was played on Sunday 17th January between the pairs of Joe Cruse & Richard Blake and Richard Hawken & Richard Lawrence. Richard Blake was a last minute stand in for Bob Cruse, who was suffering from a bad back. So Joe and the three Richards took to the course to decide what was always going to be an interesting contest.

According to Joe, Richard Blake's putting was the deciding factor - he holed putts for birdie on 4, 5, and 7 to give Cruse and Blake an early lead. 4 & 3 was the ultimate result and the 'chuckle brothers' were denied the trophy by the fine performance of Cruse & Blake. We know Joe did his bit, even if he gives Richard all the credit! But Bob may have permanently lost his job.

Hawken & Lawrence advanced to the final by beating Nigel Buse & Tuck Clagett in the semi-final, while Cruse and Blake won over Tris Lang and John Rowe.

Joe and Richard will now represent the Club in the Daily Mail Foursomes as a resultof their victory.
