The Seniors taste summer at St Mellion

Published: 17th April 2014

The Seniors visited St Mellion on Monday, 14 April. It was a warm, sunny, Spring day which encouraged not only shirt sleeve order, but also, in some cases, the season’s first appearance of some white legs emerging from hibernation. This is the only St Mellion Seniors’ fixture which is played on the immaculate, but challenging Nicklaus course, which is another compliment to St Enodoc.

The match proved to be a close one with the result favouring the home side by 4½ - 3½, although the Saints may have edged it in losing fewer balls ! The course is not just a tough one, but also rather demanding physically and at least one Saint swore that he would join the majority and have a buggy next time after struggling up the last few holes.

Captain of the Day and one very tall ex-camera expert were taken unawares in the locker room when a young, attractive woman, intent on her household duties walked in whilst they were ‘sans vetements’ after showering. ‘Twas a crippling blow to their pride when she took not the slightest notice of their ex-physical charms, did her job and left without a word ! Oh, the attrition of the years !
