On Wednesday the Rabbits celebrated the Club`s 125th Anniversary with a 6-6-6 competition in teams of three on the Holywell Course including nearest the pin on the 16thand straightest drive on the 17th. Blessed with fine weather for most of the competition, a particularly heavy shower failed to dampen their spirits of those still out on the course.

Highlight of the day was a hole-in-one on the 5th by Roy Davis which was celebrated in high style with a champagne reception in the evening thanks to Roy`s generosity. Five points were also earned by Di Keates with a birdie on the 15th and by Sarah Blackiston with a birdie on the 8th.

The day was rounded off with a fine meal in the restaurant followed by prizegiving and dancing to Wappo`s disco, tired and aching limbs being well lubricated in traditional Rabbits style while contributing well to the bar profits!

Results:
Hole in one – Roy Davis
Closest to the Pin – David Webb
Straightest Drive – Does – Celia Bishop
Straightest Drive - Rabbits – Simon Trevan

Winning Team – Carole Dell, Jim Brown and Roy Davis – 86 points
Second – Anne Crossley, Peter Mattinson and Paul Blackiston – 85 points
Third – Di Keates, David Webb and Adam Duncan – 83 points

Footnote

Rabbits were formed in 1988 by Joe Mercer of the Fourways Inn, St Minver. The inaugural game was played on 26th January of that year with 10 players including HG Mattinson, Peter`s father and Tony Gregan. Over the years The Rabbits have never missed a Wednesday irrespective of weather or Holy Days, Christmas morning is a favourite as it gets away from cooking etc. Current membership is 59 with 30 – 40 turning out regularly to play the Holywell Course.
