Temporary Local Rule for Bird Damage

Published: 16th December 2016

There are sadly a good number of areas on both courses where birds have damaged the playing surface in their search, one supposes, for grubs. These are currently too numerous and frequent for the greenkeepers to keep up, mark as GUR and repair.

To cover for this situation a new local rule has been introduced as follows -

Temporary Local Rule   A ball coming to rest in an area that has incurred damage by birds may be dropped without penalty within one club length of the nearest point of relief in accordance with Rule 25-1   Penalty for breach of rule:   Match play; loss of hole Stroke play; two strokes (specimen local rule 25-1) as of 21/11/16
