On a dull blustery day teams of eight from St Enodoc, Perranporth, Launceston, Mullion, West Cornwall and The Nomads met at St Enodoc to play a better ball stableford competition with all four scores to count.

Leading out for St Enodoc were the touring pro’s Kevin Francis & John Paul posting a score of 33 points.  Next were Richard Matheron & Shaun Hawken with a score of 34 points.  The third pairing Steve Buse and Mark Meneer recorded the best score of the day, 39 points, and last but not least Mike Buse & Nigel Buse scoring 35 points.

With a total of 141 points St Enodoc beat Perranporth into second place with an overall score of 126 points.    Results of the sweep – 1st Steve Buse & Mark Meneer (St Enodoc)  39 pts,  2nd James Davidson & Graham Parkyn (Perranporth) 36 pts,

3rd Mike Buse & Nigel Buse (St Enodoc) 35 pts.

Gook’s flooking iron was presented to Mike Buse (captain of the day) by last year’s joint winners, Launceston.  St Enodoc looks forward to defending the trophy next year at Perranporth

There were a few reminisces of Gook’s golf exploits and his ability to play clicky handed plus he won the county championships at St Enodoc in 1969 at the age of 51.  He was a larger then life character who endeared himself to many of the clubs within the county achieving the ultimate accolade of honorary membership with all the clubs playing today.
