St Enodoc beat St Austell 3-2, in a close fought match at Perranporth today to win the Frank Wills Salver.  In a very strong and gusting wind (up to 50mph) and over 36 holes the veteran links golfers of St Enodoc  may have had a slight advantage over St Austell but the day still ended in a nail-biting finish. Richard Hawken and Richard Lawrence closed their game out 2&1 to win the match overall but meanwhile the last game out was still unaware of the overall result; St Austell holed their second shot for an eagle 2 on the 17th alas to no avail! A great perfomance by St Austell and worthy runners-up.

I believe the boys then went to the Perranporth clubhouse to enjoy a well-earned celebratory pint or two!

Final Result

Kevin Brenton and John Pease lost 1 Down

Mike Masters and Paul Dingle won 6&5 (having been 8 up at one point)

Dave Flew and Russell Combellack won 3&2 (having been 6 up at one point)

Richard Hawken and Richard Lawrence won 2&1

Keith Hawke and Sam Jarvis lost 1 down.

Congratulations to the team and their Captain, Bob Cruse!
