The Spring Meeting was held on Tuesday 14th April in mainly beautifully bright and sunny conditions with the sea mist rolling in now and again to add to the challenge.

The competitions were well supported on both courses and players were organised into teams of three, counting the best two scores on each hole. There were clear winners on the Holywell Course as the team of Jayne Brenton, Sue Walker and Barbara Hawkins compiled a winning score of 84 points. In second place with a total of 79 points were Nan Girling, Teresa Radford and Catherine Beagley just one ahead of Gloria Crouch, Liz McWhirter and Mary Hibbert who finished in third place with 78 points.

The competition on the Church Course was closely contested with only two points separating the top four teams. Sue Ofield, Penny Moon and Maxine Rich proved to be the best combination on the day compiling a winning total of 72 points. Vicki Stevenson, Barbara Robson and Sue Richards finished in second place with 71 points (after count back) nudging the team of Trudy Tremain, Heather Brewer and Ann Irons into third place who also achieved 71 points. Fourth place was filled by the team of Trudie Tensjo, Jane Bendall and Pat Parry with a total of 70 points.

Lynn Ashcroft won “nearest the pin” on the 15th hole on the Church Course and Teresa Radford played the most accurate tee shot on the 5th Hole on the Holywell Course.

The prize table boasted a wonderful array of flowers and gifts and as players came off the course they enjoyed a delicious high tea which included a welcoming glass of prosecco and a Scandinavian Smörgåstårta, created by Wappo and for his first attempt was given 98% for content and 100% for presentation from the Ladies’ Captain Trudie Tensjö. A big thank you to Iain and all his staff for all their efforts.

Winning team captains; Jayne Brenton and Sue Ofield thanked all those involved in organising a most successful and enjoyable day.
