Seniors vs St Mellion

Published: 26th April 2016

A couple of days after St George’s day and Shakespeare’s 400th anniversary our seniors gathered for the return match against St Mellion. The day was cold and blustery with a chill northerly wind cutting to the bone of our undeterred representatives. It may not have been the blasted heath of King Lear’s landscape but there may have been thoughts of, “Something wicked this way comes”.

So imitating the action of the tiger, stiffening their sinews and summoning their blood, they disguised fair nature with hard-favoured rage and lent their eyes a terrible aspect. The game was a foot and they cried “God for St Enodoc, Lord Mike and St George.”

Going once more into the breach the Seniors fought valiantly and triumphed in an uncompromising victory. These few, these happy few, these band of brothers might recall a line from Henry V,

“Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day.”

All’s well that ends well!
