Seniors Match & Stableford reports

Published: 9th May 2012

On a relatively mild day the Seniors, ably led by Captain of the Day, Geoff Matthews, achieved a stalwart win 4 ½ to 3 ½ away at Launceston, giving a combined home & away victory by 11 ½ to 4 ½.

Our winners were John Russell & John Baxter, Tony Mindel & Kenton Williams, Harry Gliddon & Keith Willmott and Derek Rushton & Paul Godfrey, the latter by the convincing margin of 6 & 5, although this may have had something to do with the fact that one of the opposition players retired hurt after eight holes. Tyrell Sandry (simply cannot keep him out of the news) won the St. Enodoc nearest the pin prize.

Unusually, the Seniors played Stablefords on both courses on Bank Holiday Monday. This was because the Senior Seniors had taken a sensible decision not to play in the rain the previous Monday. Pity all the Seniors didn't take the same view because we all got very wet and very cold. Judging by the results it obviously rained harder on the Holywell.

The results were :-

Church Course.

Nigel Thomas 36 Pts

Jim Crouch 33 Pts

Derek Kingsbury 32 Pts (CB)

Holywell.

David Miller 31 Pts

Roy Darnell 30 Pts (CB last 9)

Ian Hall 30 Pts (CB last 6)
