Seniors take on Saunton & RND

Published: 5th September 2012

In the last few days the Seniors have taken on the might of Devon in the shape of Saunton and Royal North Devon, albeit both at home.

Having lost at Saunton the balance was redressed somewhat by a 5 – 3 victory on a breezy but dry day, described by the indomitable Captain-of-the-Day, Mike Jarvis, as 'typical links conditions'. However the combined match was still lost by a single point.

Against RND we will do well to better this result having been beaten at home in a very close encounter on a glorious day for golf, also by 5 – 3. Our indefatigable Captain-of -the Day, Keith Willmott, will try to lead his side to better things on Friday in the return match at Westward Ho! Both Captains suffered a number of withdrawals and were forced to rely on a very late replacement to ensure that we fielded full teams; perhaps it is my imagination, but I suspect that 'senior moments' are increasing in their frequency.
