Seniors lose their way at China Fleet

Published: 14th June 2016

Monday 13th June saw the Old Saints travel to Saltash for the return match at China Fleet. They were greeted by a humid, damp day that started to drizzle on the first tee. There was a mixture of rain and sunshine throughout the day, but by the end the sun stayed out long enough to dry everyone off.

As usual old friendships were renewed and the spirit of the game was upheld and enjoyed by everyone.

The condition of the course was outstanding and all agreed that it is a wonderful place to play golf. A good dinner was then taken, with lots of ‘jeer-full’ banter. Having drawn 4-4 at home the visitors unfortunately went down 5½ - 2½, so this year China Fleet were the aggregate victors. Captain Paul Godfrey vowed that the old boys will do better next season.

On the way home, those heading to Bodmin discovered the A38 at closed at Saltash, which meant that confused travellers found themselves following strange diversions getting ever closer to St Mellion. No doubt all found their way home eventually.
