Seniors beat Trevose & halve with Bowood

Published: 13th June 2012

Last week under the able leadership of Captain for the Day, David Balmford, the Seniors won their home match against Trevose by 4 ½ to 3 ½ , once again blessed by lovely weather. David was confused by the tactic of his partner, a retired schoolmaster from Bodmin, who on the 16th hit his fifth shot 30 yards down the fairway in the wrong direction before holing an outrageous putt for a half. He was also bemused to learn that one of his team members, a recent winner of the Bowood Seniors Open who wishes to remain anonymous, claimed that the winning score was 5 ½ to 3 ½.

Another home fixture was played this week against Bowood which ended in a hard-fought 4 – 4 draw, which means that Bowood won the combined home & away match 10 ½ – 5 ½ and in doing so became the only side to beat the Seniors this year (your scribe trusts that this is not tempting fate).
