Quite a few competitions to report for the Ladies

Published: 28th October 2012

The first round of the Stableford Salver was played on a difficult day which resulted in the competition being Reductions Only. The winner was Sue G Jones with 30 points followed by Sue Ofield with 27 points. Another round of the Roworth Salver also took place with a great score of 35 points from Bev Vann taking first place. In second was Ruth East on 34 points on countback.

While the Church Course was closed for maintenance work to be carried out the annual “Cornwall versus the Rest of the World” Competition was played on the Holywell Course. Some interesting attire was seen both in the Cornish black and gold and the patriotic red white and blue. Despite Cornwall's struggle to find enough 'locals' to compete they came out the winners of the strongly fought match played in a better ball matchplay format.

The latest competition to be played was a '666' on both courses on 23rd October. On the Church Course Sue Ofield, Trudy Tremain and Penny Cartwright won with 77 points with Sue G Jones, Heather Brewer and Lynn Ashcroft in second. On the Holywell Course the winners were Pauline Wilkins, Mavis Lugg and Rita Bentley with a score of 78 points followed by Margaret Godwin, Rose Jones and Ann Worden with 72 points.
