Prideaux Brune & Le Marchand Cups

Published: 2nd August 2016

The earliest reference found in the Club minutes calls it Colonel Brune's Prize in the Programme of the Summer Meeting of 1910, 18 holes medal under handicap. That same format is contested in today's summer programme and it was that very same cup on Saturday 30th July that Mr Greg Mather won with a very impressive nett 67. Seventy-one players entered the medal on Saturday with Division I players vying for the Prideaux Brune Cup and the Division II playing the Le Marchand Cup. In second place in Div I was Steve Buse with the low gross of the day and a nett 71. Matthew Mills came 3rd on 72 and three players - John Pease, Kenton Williams & Norman Evans were all on nett 74.

In Division II in the Le Marchand Cup, Derek Rushton also had an impressive nett 67, two shots ahead of second place Malcolm Mullis on 69, while Keith Thompson had nett 70 and James Heis, Pete Liddicoat and John Westlake were together on 71.

Well played to all the prize winners, who must have kept out of the rough to score so well!
