Monday 3rd October saw the tenth anniversary of the Seniors’ Open. This has now grown into a very popular and prestigious event. This year there were 108 players, but an additional 66 had to be turned away. Participants came from many parts of the country, from Worcestershire to Bristol, to Weymouth, to Burnham and Berrow. Next year, the Seniors have agreed to change the tee times so that another 36 will be able to play. The event went very smoothly, thanks to the many volunteers and the Club’s staff. A special mention should be made of John Harbinson who is the Open Secretary. There was a last minute withdrawal, so thanks to Club Captain Tony Mindel for stepping in to score the other pair. The weather started fair but windy, but by 2.30 the rain had started to come in, making difficult conditions for the closing field.

There was a close result with only 1 point between the top four for the Visitors and also one point in it for the St Enodoc top three.

This morning the Club received a very nice email from Burnham and Berrow members and I quote ;

‘by a distance, it’s the best organised open event in which we try to compete - and yesterday was no exception. It was a marvellous experience and so well organised by a team of such efficient, cheerful individuals.’
