The £20,000 three day Cornish Festival got under way yesterday in wonderful golfing weather; blue skies, warm sunshine and no wind. St Enodoc was set up beautifully and presented immaculately - take a bow Course Manager Scott Gibson and all his greenkeeping team. Mark Arrowsmith said after his round "the greens today were as quick as I have ever known at St Enodoc"

In the contest between our two competing Pro's and their teams, in the individual stroke play event Nick has a one shot advantage over Mark. Whilst in the team event Nick's team have a ten point advantage ! However it has to be said that Nick's boys were playing on an easier track at Carlyon Bay and there's still 36 holes to play.

Meanwhile in the other less important part of the event Paul Broadhurst was among the early pace setters on the opening day with a six under par 66 at Carlyon Bay.

The former Ryder Cup player carded seven birdies in his round while over on the St Enodoc course, Michael Watson, a member of Great Britain & Ireland's victorious 2015 PGA Cup team, fired a four under par 65.
