The 16th at immaculately presented St Enodoc today

Scott Gibson and his squad of greenkeepers had St Enodoc at it's immaculate best today in the Spring sunshine. With the course running hard and fast this was as links golf should be; unusually too for a links course there was just the merest hint of a breeze to bother the golfers. The course was thus ready to be taken and the course record broken perhaps ? No. At the time of scribbling this piece and with golfers still on the course the best score thus far at St Enodoc has been 1 over par. James Braid's masterpiece does not surrender easily even in benign conditions.

Mark Arrowsmith started his round at 0800 today, he had the honour of being first off and ended after a steady round 2 over par and handily placed in equal 22nd place. Level par on the front nine his back nine was a mixture of birdies and bogies. His team score of 81 leaves them in equal 19th place. This is Mark's first tournament since his knee operation and we wish him well for the next two days.

Meanwhile Antony Nash started at Carlyon Bay with a round of 76, 4 over par, to leave him lying tied in 33rd place. His team score is 82 and they lie tied 20th.
