Our two resident Pro's, with their teams, started their Cornish Festival campaign today. Nick at Newquay and Mark at Trevose.

Neither of them can be said to have had the starts they would have wished for. Nick carded 82 to lie 13 over, whilst Mark scored 80 to be 9 over. With plenty of scores still to come in they currently lie tied 67th and 52nd respectively; whilst their teams are dead heated with 75 stableford points each and lie tied 27th of the 111 teams competing.

Your reporter spoke to Nick after his round and who said somewhat enigmatically  "It was one of those days when I found a good number of the many Newquay bunkers". He was also delighted with the form of Robbie Moore and who had a magical round which included six birdies. Nick said "His putter was on fire"
