The 2 barrels from Nick Williams's shotgun for the start coincided with the rain starting again and during the course of the afternoon it came and went several times, it was breezy but not too cold which was something. The format of Pandora's Box is a cross country course with never playing from a tee to the correct green coupled with some of the most impossible pin positions imaginable. 17 teams of 4 playing a Texas Scramble format over 17 holes took part with a deduction of 10% of their combined handicaps to give the net score on which it would all be decided.

More holes were played than usual but there were many shorter ones but probably the most difficult was from the first tee to the second green so having to play over the reservoir. The 2nd tee to the 6th green was also a very interesting experience. Mike Buse took responsibility for the course along with some help from Richard Matheron and there is no doubt that they settled some old scores with some really quite awful pins which meant that if the ball did not go in it would finish a considerable distance from the hole.

The scores at the end of the day were very close with just one shot separating the first 4 teams which showed that the draw for teams could not have been better. The players all tucked into a well earned pasty after it was all over and before the prizegiving. Those in the prizes were:-

1st     Rob Young, Malcolm Jones, Mark Pimble, John Westlake 52.8
2nd   Shaun Beare, Ian Wotherspoon, Shawn Hawken, Simon Lewins 53.5
3rd    Andy Bunt, Terry Johns, Lewis Wotherspoon, Les Spong 53.7
4th    Andy Beare, Colin Garnett, Geoff Jones, Paul Godfrey 53.8
