New County President from St Enodoc

Published: 23rd March 2012

Malcolm Jones will become the President of the Cornwall Golf Union on 29th March in succession to Mullion’s Gerry Fitter - a just reward for many years service to the County. Malcolm was Captain of St Enodoc in 2003 and 2004 and had already been well involved in the CGU for some 20 years and in his time has been President of the Cornwall PGA Alliance which has given him an unrivalled knowledge of Cornwall’s golfers both Amateur and Professional.

In the last 2 years when Malcolm has been Vice-President he has been instrumental in re-writing the constitution and the general guidance for competitions of the CGU. The last time the County Championships were held at St Enodoc was when Malcolm came into office as Captain of the Club in 2003 and it is fitting that as he becomes County President the County Championships will be held here again in May this year.
