On Saturday the Mens John Cory Cup was held, at least for many, in miserable conditions. Cold, occasionally very wet and with a hail storm which rendered the greens and fairways white for a while. Then on Saturday night came Storm Angus; it was thus with fingers crossed that the sixty-four golfers signed up for Sunday’s Mixed Greensomes turned out on Sunday morning. Clearly some had said their prayers as the day turned out as perfect as is imaginable for winter golf; fresh, but not cold and no wind to speak of. Some very good scoring reflected the conditions.

Club Captain David Elliott in his remarks prior to presenting the prizes announced that he found a tooth on the second green; anyone wishing to claim said molar should call the office. A quick check around the bar for toothless grins drew a blank. The Captain was also pleased to welcome International Members Ann-Marie and Stefan Ebervall from Sweden; followers of our Facebook pages will know that Stefan is frequent poster there. The Captain also thanked the Ladies Captain Tamsin Blake and who with Annie Cruse checked all the cards

Enough of the Parish Notices, here is the bit you really need to know – viz who won all the wine !
