The last of the years Mixed Greensomes competitions was today held on both the Church and Holywell courses and both were fully subscribed. On a coldish, but bright and dry, day with a 20 mph breeze from the North conditions were somewhat testing - more so for some than others. The two courses were in immaculate condition, the greens especially so -running at 10.5 on the stimp-meter.

These events can sometimes be the cause of a little friction between the protagonists; today however no divorce proceedings were reported, on the contrary and somewhat unusually an engagement was announced between Sue Kingston and Rod Frost.

The winners on both courses won by a clear margin and evidently managed the conditions rather better than others. In the money on the Church course were

  • 1st: Jane & Simon Pain 37 points
  • 2nd: Rod Frost & Sue Kingston 33 points
  • 3rd: Celia Jarvis & Richard Matheron 33 points
  • 4th Barbara & Keith Willmott 32 points

Whilst the winners on the Holywell course were

  • 1st: Malcolm & Sue Jones 47 points
  • 2nd: Jim & Gloria Crouch 43 points
  • 3rd: Malcolm & Judy Cole 41 points
