In conditions which the winners Kath & Martin Biddle described as "brutal" fifty brave mixed gofers set out this morning, Sunday 22nd April, to do battle with the course and the elements.

1st Martin & Kath Biddle

2nd Kevin & Sue Richards

3rd Rex Molloy & Sue F Jones

4th Norman & Annie Hawkey

5th Tony & Bobbie Rounsevell

This was a "flag" stroke play competition the object being to get as far as possible before running out of shots; the determination of the shots available being half combined, thus a pair with 16 shots has a total of 86 shots (SSS 70 + 16 = 86) before the round is over and their "flag" is planted. The precise nature of the rules however were not readily understood by all of the competitors and one group in particular. Having played nine holes one gentleman turns to the other and says "I make you 46 gross so you now have 5 shots left (ie their allowance of 16 -11 = 5) "Yes says the other and I make you 45 gross so you have 2 shots left" This confusion left them completing (or imagining they had completed) their rounds on the 10th and 12th holes respectively. They were not unrewarded however - see the picture below
