Mens County Week at Bude - Day 4

Published: 21st May 2015

On another testing day for golf at windy Bude GC the two stroke play rounds of the Cornwall Amateur Championship 2015 took place. Six Members of St Enodoc GC were entered for this the CGU's most prestigious of all events and one which all Cornish low handicap club golfers wish to win. Our entrants were - Joe Cruse, Steve Chapman, Jack Irwin, Steve Buse, Rob Cook and Josh Greenaway - the latter two on this occasion flying the colours of their employer Bowood Park GC. Results of the two stroke play rounds determined the final thirty-two qualifiers for the knock out - match play - stages of the tournament.

Of our six Members five have made it through with only Steve Buse sadly missing the cut. The first round match play starts this morning at 0800 with two more rounds tomorrow. The draw has brought Joe Cruse to play against Rob Cook so another St Enodoc player will have to drop out in this first round. Joe is on good form and his two solid rounds of stroke play (146) see him seeded three. Steve Chapman and who won this event in the past is also on good form with a two round total of 149.

The man to beat is probably Adam Curtis on his home course and with a two round total of 5 under par.
