Macmillan Cancer Support Longest Day Challenge

Published: 11th June 2015

Using the Club's data base many Members will have recently received an email from the Captain concerning his participitation in the National Macmillan Golf Challenge. We do not hold an email address for every Member and for this reason his message is repeated below. So far over £3500 has been raised and if you have not already contributed and wish to do so it is not too late.

On Sunday June 21st, the longest day of the year, I have committed myself to playing 4 rounds of golf on the Holywell. This is part of a national fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support and they have agreed that all money we raise will go to the Cove project at Treliske, my charity for the year. Over a 1000 other teams are taking part that day nationwide.

Annie Hawkey, Matt Westlake and Keith Thompson are playing with me in a fourball, 2 scores to count Stableford (and the best score and most money raised by a 4 ball in the UK has a chance to win a prize but our priority is to raise as much money as we can for The Cove).

If you wish to sponsor our efforts then you can either donate through the web site www.justgiving.com and go the St Enodoc Captain’s Charity page and use either debit or credit card (remember to Gift Aid the donation if you can), or use the sponsor form available at the bar at the club and pay by cash or cheque made payable to Macmillan Cancer Support.

We will need support and encouragement on the day and to add to the fun we will be running some sweepstakes for guessing our best eclectic score, lost ball total and a few others!

The Cove is also the beneficiary of the St Enodoc Club Charity Day (formerly known as the Chris Harbour Charity Day) on June 17th, donations of prizes for the raffle can be handed in to the office and please buy lots of tickets which Beth Elliott and Diana Mindel will be selling over the next week or two and on the day. There are still a few holes left to be sponsored (£50 a hole) let me know if you wish to help in this way.

More information as to Macmillan’s ambitions for the Cove can be found on their website www.macmillan.org.

Many thanks for any donation you feel able to give.

Regards David Elliott
St Enodoc Golf Club Captain
