Last match of the season for the Seniors

Published: 16th October 2012

The Seniors played their last match of the season away at Carlyon Bay, and, in spite of fielding what seemed a reasonably strong side on paper, were soundly defeated by 6 ½ - 1 ½, although they did have the consolation of winning the combined home & away match by a solitary point.

The overall results for the season were Won 14, Drawn 2, Lost 11, of which 12 wins but only one loss and one draw were at home, suggesting that Seniors no longer travel well.

On the Holywell the monthly Stableford suffered an invasion of habitual Church players, the Church course being closed for maintenance, albeit most of them playing off 2/3rds of their Church handicap. A record 32 took part and the honours were taken on count-back by David Ramsbottom with 35 points, with John Russell in second place, whilst Nigel Thomas was third on 34 points also on count-back ahead of John Bower.
