The Spring Meeting was held on Tuesday 9th April and although the weather could hardly be described as “spring like”, it was a vast improvement on the arctic playing conditions of late. Players were pleased to see some blue skies, sunshine and had a moderate breeze to contend with.

The competitions were well supported on both courses and players were organised into teams of three, counting the best two scores on each hole. The competition on the Church Course was extremely close with only one point between the top two teams, however it was the team of Jan Derry, Barbara Willmott and Edna Alford who won the day with a total of 79 points from Meg Godfrey, Lynn Ashcroft and Sue Floyd Jones in second place with 78 points. 75 points was good enough for third and fourth places with Jane Bendall, Lorna Harper and Bobbie Rounsevell claiming third place on count back from Trudie Tensjo, Rhiannon Rich and Sue Richards. In fifth place were Celia Jarvis, Angela Tickner and Judy Redman with 72 points.
Suzie Willmott won “nearest the pin” which was on the 15th hole

There were clear winners on the Holywell Course as the team of Carol Carter, Mary Killingley and Catherine Beagley amassed a grand total of 83 points. In second place with a total of 77 points were Anne Crossley, Carol Dell and Sue Moore just one ahead of Rose Jones, Fran Pennington and Diane Keates who finished in third place with 76 points.
Tereen Oliver won “nearest the pin” which was on the 12th hole

The prize table was a sight to behold as it was laden with pots and planters filled with beautiful, seasonal flowers. A most welcome tea of sandwiches and cakes was enjoyed by everyone as they came off the course.
As winning Captain, Jan Derry thanked all those involved in organising a most enjoyable day.
