Day 3 and the semi-finals in each section were played in slightly colder conditions than the previous 2 days, with some cloud and a brisk breeze at times. Spectators rejected yesterday’s attire of shorts and tee shirts in favour of trousers, jumpers, hats & jackets!

After her excellent performances so far, Penny Cartwright had a tough draw against the very experienced Jan Sargeant of Perranporth. The match started steadily with Jan a little stronger early on and 2 up after 5. She then chipped in for an Eagle on 6 giving Penny some work to do but she responded by winning 7. A bit of to-ing and fro-ing ensued over the next few holes but after the turn Jan’s game really came good and the momentum turned in her favour. Chris Dymond (caddy) and stalwart supporters Stuart ‘Dad’ Dymond and Ladies Captain Tamsin Blake kept Penny in the match with plenty of encouragement (and Jaffa cakes) but ultimately Jan held on to the advantage and closed out the match on the 15th. Well done on a great performance this week Penny, a step closer to the goal, we look forward to next year!

The other semi-final results were as follows;

Laura Andrew (Truro) won 1 up on the 20th v Olivia Trewhela (Truro)
