The annual County Championships are taking place at Mullion this year in the most perfect weather conditions, obviously pre-ordered by County Captain Sue Roworth. As if glorious sunshine and merely a light breeze weren’t enough, there was an early morning swim-by of a large pod of dolphins just off the coast, a beautiful sight for the ladies as they waited to tee off the 10th hole.

The field of 54 ladies competed over 36 holes on the first day and were glad to sit down to a lovely meal at the end of the day. As always in this type of competition some players fared better than others on a course in excellent condition and which always challenges.

32 players go through to the matchplay stages and from St Enodoc Penny Cartwright again qualified in the top 16 and meets Wendy Briggs of Launceston on Friday morning. Bev Vann also qualified in the Plate competition and plays Anna Sendall of Perranporth. We wish them both the best of luck.
