Another sunny day for the Ladies Tuesday competition on 2nd May. After the previous 2 days of heavy rain it was a relief to see the sun for the annual match between Cornwall & The Rest of the World. In reality it is actually Cornwall and various adopted Ladies versus ROW as the Cornish born contingent are dwindling in numbers and there are many Ladies who have been in the County long enough to consider themselves Cornish.

13 teams played in a four-ball better ball match play format and Ladies’ Captain Tamsin Blake, not playing due to injury, kept an eye on proceedings in a very non-partisan manner (or maybe not!!). Many of the matches were very close and in some cases being taken quite seriously with even the shortest of puts requiring to be holed. Tamsin then produced some Cornish Scrumpy and biscuits to help the ladies along, with some of the Cornish girls being taken back to their youth as a result. This was possibly a positive influence on their game as the Cornish brought home a victory of 8 ½ - 4 ½.

Back in the clubhouse Wappo’s home made pasties went down a treat and team Captain’s Trudy Tremain and Chris Henderson announced the result with Trudy receiving the prestigious Cornish Piskie trophy.

Tamsin thanked everyone for participating and making the day another very enjoyable one.
